This is a vanity to be made out of local Elm. It’s designed to fit in a tight space with shallow cabinets either side of the sink which allow for clearance of the bathroom door and room to move between the toilet and the furniture. An existing medicine cabinet limits the height of the faucet and the offset counters allow for use of a vessel sink per the clients request. Warm air from a central heating vent against the wall will escape through the base molding. (The faucet and sink depicted are mock-ups)

The elm we sourced for the vanity is really beautiful. Here it is all laid out and ready for cutting. Working with material from the same tree means we have a few consecutively-sawn boards to work with. Grain-matching is always one of my favorite steps in the process and it will make this cabinet one of a kind.

Although it is not a true mortise and tenon, the hybrid of a stub tenon and a loose tenon (a Domino in this case) makes for a very strong joint and will add longevity of the piece.
